Many seem to believe that moving less is what’s appropriate as you age, especially if you identify as someone who’s passed their prime. But, nothing is farther from the truth. The latest in science and in trusted living testimonials prove a life lived more in movement is what’s most important as you age. Think of Train with Joan, whose fitness transformation in her 70s earned her a place as a global fitness influencer or think of the professional athletes who continue to participate at the highest rank of sports even in their 40s and 50s.

Though conventional thought tries to make you think small for yourself as you age, realise that so many things are a result of your mindset too. Of course, adjustments to how you’ve been moving throughout your life matter, but it’s key to understand that it’s never too late to start. The heights of performance that you can attain at any age are truly remarkable. It’s more about whether or not you allow yourself to believe what you’ve been told, because you may feel you’re too old to start or achieve great physical performance, but that’s more a reflection of your state of mind.

Yielding to limited beliefs is a choice because it’s not about how old you are but more about your training age, your consistency over your lifetime, and how you’ve been training that makes the greatest difference. While it’s true that every person ages, natural regression is not something that has to happen without resistance.

From the mind to the physical, there is plenty of research and evidence that supports your ability to play a part in how fast, or slow, you age. Like how Bryan Johnson is The Man That’s Ageing Backwards. Of course, not everyone can commit to a Billionaire’s regimen, but at least we’re now all aware of what’s possible. There’s credible science that supports that you can in fact age backwards by making significant changes in your lifestyle. But, Johnson is an example of an extreme, so think about where you want to be on the spectrum. Let go of the myth that you are helpless to ageing and most importantly, it’s time to take your life back into your own hands. It’s never too late to start— this is why a serious intervention on long-held limiting beliefs is necessary, because you should move more as you age not less, here are some reasons why:
