If you’re wondering if you’re ready to journey with me again this year, to transverse the plains of deep contemplative thinking, some hard truths are foundational to the method I offer and the philosophies it contains: there is no magic pill, there’s no magic solution, and there are no quick fixes to pursuing the best version of yourself— in life, wellness and everything in between. No matter how clever advertisements are at enticing you to believe there is a shortcut, the reality is, that an optimal life takes a lot of hard work, patience, and lifelong dedication to become your best ‘you’.

In the interest of never wasting your time, I want to be transparent, this publication is only relevant if you’re interested in becoming the very best version of yourself possible. If such pursuits aren’t for you, if you’re more interested in learning hacks or cheats, then the contents in this community will most likely not apply to you. I thank you for stopping by and should you have a change of heart, this space is always open. As with all the modern conveniences made available to us through the genius of our fellows, there are plenty of other products and ways that offer an easier path (or perhaps a four-week program) to living your best life, compared to the journey I advocate for.

But, the truth is when you dive into the facts, the research, and the wisdom of the great thinkers throughout history, most will share the same view. Most, if not all who promise a bypass to greater well-being are often only offering a band-aid solution of short-term thinking. The real truth that many try to avoid is the acceptance of the enduring challenge required to achieve the highest version of yourself.

The Intimate Moments You Content Within Yourself

This is not measured in materialism, accolades, praise, popularity or fame, but it’s about those intimate moments you contend within yourself if you are serious about uncovering your fullest potential. This journey— which I walk alongside you— is a lifelong pursuit. Until the day you take your last breath, there are infinite possibilities to pursue and limitless potential to strive for. It’s a matter of asking yourself, are you the type of person who cares enough about exploring your most evolved states and do what it takes? Are you the type of person who is curious and willing to spend the effort to fully explore the heights you can reach?

There is nothing wrong if you are not, by the way. If you are happy living life exactly where you are, on the trajectory you are on, without any desire to become something more; truthfully, such simplicities are sometimes enviable. But, if you are someone who constantly dreams of a different life or someone whose soul is calling you to something greater than what your imagination can touch, then the only way to live a fulfilling life is to maintain your perseverance through the expected challenges and many joyful triumphs that come with pursuing your highest self.

In the moment, the struggle is and always never fun. It’s understandably something you wish to avoid. But here’s the secret to all the great people you admire, overcoming obstacles is part of the journey. It’s when you push through the discomfort, that greater gains are rewarded. Start listening to the biographies of those you admire most throughout history who have seemingly achieved impossible feats. If you dig deeper into their stories, their life shared many tribulations that not only shaped their character but tested their determination towards the ultimate vision they had for themselves. To become an unstoppable force, nothing worth pursuing ever comes easy.

Navigating storms is a mandatory prescription.

In observing great leaders and thinkers before me, I realise that the key to a meaningful life is to outpace challenges. Navigating storms is a mandatory prescription. If it all comes easily, then life becomes meaningless. I know it seems counterintuitive but think back to the last time you celebrated a grand triumph, where you thrived in the face of adversity. Recall the joy you felt once you conquered the problem and made it to the other side. The sense of pride, accomplishment, and confidence you gained, in yourself and your character, is an education and incomparable gratification to easy wins and predictable days.

This is not a new insight. Reiterated many times by the great minds that came before, like Thomas Edison, a notorious experimenter with an incredible appetite for failure, yet also one of the greatest inventors in human history said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” As did Marcus Aurelius, who iterated that “the impediment to action advances action” as “what stands in the way becomes the way,” or Confucius who relayed the message that “the greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” These noble thought leaders knew that the appeal of a life that comes easily is faulty. A life well lived– a meaningful life– of contentment and pride can only be won through periods of conquering storms.

An Encouragement to Think Deeper

This is a core principle of The Happy Hue Method. The philosophies I share aren’t about prescribing you a set of rules that you must adopt, rather this method is a system of guidelines designed to equip and empower you toward your own transformations. I aim to encourage you to think deeper, as I’ve arrived at this system of understanding through years of dedicated self-exploration, and through many periods of trials and errors. I endured them all to realise its newfound purpose, which is to share what I’ve gained with as many people as I can reach.

While I’ve spent most of my life trying to fit in, to people please, and to try to live by the rules and measures of others, I’ve undergone an immense revolution within myself. For the better part of the last decade or so, through my twenties and now into my thirties, I’ve been refining an approach I claim as my own. I know it sounds a little cheesy or cliché, but life, as I see it now, is about daring to define what works best for you.

Whether you’re with the herd or against the herd, the world will always try to tempt you to follow its tides, to abide by its invisible rules and to measure success by its arbitrary measures. But the way I see things now is that life’s ultimate purpose is not about fitting in, satisfying others' needs, or living someone else’s standards, but that life is about the quest to become your own. To continually welcome your most authentic self, over and over again, through its expected evolutions is what it means to live a full and meaningful life.

Prioritising Your True Self First

Silencing the noise to excavate your core is what your purpose is. Fulfilment is about prioritising your true self first. There are enough of them, but there’s only one of you. You are invited to deliberate with yourself enough times to become more aware of who you are and what’s available to you. Your main tasks are to question, ponder, and clarify the reasons why you are who you are.

Once you start living your life as the truest version of yourself, you’ll enter a new level of truth. It’s an intimate truth that you can never go backwards from, as truly knowing yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Knowing why you choose to live the way you do and why you do the things you do are important arsenals to living life to the fullest. To live every day based on your convictions, not for the reasons or definitions of others, but because of the alignment you feel with the depths of your soul is the most rewarding experience every human is capable and worthy of earning.

Reaching such magical epiphanies requires discipline like you’ve never known before.  Self-mastery and self-discovery are part of the solution. It’s about channelling your most authentic self, without apology or compromise, and then nurturing treasures of continuous insights on why you are the way you are and why you are pursuing the things you do. This is the fruitful labour of journeying within yourself.
