The Little Things I Do
A gentle approach to brain care through small daily ritual that rewire the brain for the better.
After all the seriousness about brain care last week, let’s lighten the mood—slightly—as brain care is still the hot topic on my mind.
If change is the only constant, it means the pursuit of “optimal” anything is really about building sustainable daily habits that work with your life, not against it.
If you’ve been with me for a while, you know these already, but I want to re-introduce you to my five themes of actions: train, stimulate, nourish, rest and recover, and sleep well.
Themes of action is the method of organising I created as a reference point to how I think about healthier habits.
These aren’t rigid rules, they’re flexible categories that help me organize the millions of micro-decisions into my commitment to brain care.
I’ve let go of perfection and I’ve abandoned rigid routines, as each day is different and every season of life requires adaptation.
No matter where I am—in the world or in life—I ask myself one question each week: have I honored my five actions?
For years, I chased the false promise of optimal health, misled by the rhetoric of pursuing a single goal and delusional about a single point of health I can finally be satisfied with.
There’s no such thing.
It’s the small, consistent actions we do each day, most days (I’ve realized) that create the transformation and transition we seek.
Sustainable change is gradual, it’s rarely dramatic—unless maybe if a life altering event happens. But consistency and commitment is the winning formula.
It’s the habits we nurture overtime, cultivate over life, and successfully adapt and stick with that’ll make a lasting impression.
