nourish your mind with omega-3s
002 | Hue's Cues: your weekly dose of inspiration and insights for your brain, mind, body, and soul.
The last time I listened to a trusted recommendation, I discovered one of the most intriguing stories I’ve ever read—Daemon by Daniel Suarez. Though I typically avoid sci-fi, I found myself gripped until the very end. This reminded me that when something feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable, I should ask: why not open my brain to new stimulation before judging? What’s one highly recommended book you’d typically reject? Why not try it? If it doesn’t work, you can always move on.
On The Diary of A CEO, Dr Rhonda Patrick explain why she’s shifted from her whole-foods-first approach: the global environmental pollution crisis. Instead, Patrick claims supplements are the safer fix—as purified supplements delivers EPA and DHA without the mercury and microplastics found in many fish. She emphasizes on quality. I nourish my mind with an omega-3 supplement each morning instead as even though salmon is my favorite fish, I try to limit my fish intake as well.
These days there are many methods to enhance your body’s recovery. I’ve been experimenting with a stainless steal scraping tool as part of my weekly rest and recovery routine for myofascia health. Especially if you’re active (which I hope you are), it’s fascinating to see the increased blood flow, reduced soreness, and speed of recovery in the areas I work on. What new rest and recovery methods have you been experimenting with?
While there will always be down days when I need to vent, I’ve trained myself to end on a positive note, especially when journaling in the morning. My soul feels lighter when I do. Though some days are less successful, eight out of ten days, I feel energized in gratitude. On the days I miss writing, I mentally recite three things I am grateful for, as science proves gratitude enhances well-being. What’s your ritual on training your soul toward gratitude each day?
Our evolutionary need to slow down deserves a soundtrack (don’t you think?) —and that’s exactly what I’ve curated for you this week: a vocal less playlist to soothe your soul to gratitude.
If even Oprah modeled her interview style on Barbra Walters, you know this woman’s legacy is supersized. For most of the modern world, the United States is a leader in media, Walters was the pioneering woman at the center of it all. Though controversial, she showed grit and perseverance, appropriate for the fight of the times, as she dedicated her life to paving the way for all women in media who followed. This documentary made me reflect my priorities in life. It’s fascinating to also realize how recent women’s liberation in media has been.
As a child, I used to love Yoshinoya’s beef bowls! Inspired by this Japanese classic fast casual meal—I’ve ‘perfected’ my version at home.
