Mindset is a vast topic and this is certainly not a comprehensive exploration, but a starting point in shaping how you approach the rest of your life. The words that follow are insights for those of you who are hungry to explore the heights of potential, who are interested in expanding boundaries and who are seeking to show up as the best version of yourself– it’s not for the faint of heart who aren’t willing to do hard work.

Imagine mindset as your life’s sculptor, moulding your reality. It’s your silent puppeteer, orchestrating your thoughts, actions, and reactions, nudging you ever closer to your dreams, or pulling you farther away from them. So, given the opportunity to choose, where do you lean to?

Two directions promise a fascinating path: the ‘growth’ and the ‘infinite’ mindset. These guiding principles will prompt evolution and transformation by nudging you to explore your untapped potential. In contrast, the ‘fixed’ and ‘finite’ mindsets offer a world defined by limitations, restricted by static abilities and a view of the world as a winners-losers territory.

It sees potential and understands the timeline of progress. As an unending voyage breaking down the barriers and myths of static talents the growth mindset, doesn’t accept that you are stuck with what you’re born with. Instead, it fosters lifelong learning, resilience, and empathy towards healthier relationships with yourself and others, rooted in a shared understanding that we are all always changing.

The ‘infinite’ mindset extends this perspective, by exclaiming on the vastness of possibilities. It’s an approach to reality that doesn’t aim to ‘be the best,’ but instead, focuses on ‘being better,’ every day. It urges you to place yourself in the context of the larger cosmos, of time and the universe. It’s not about competition with another, it’s not about frantic chasing, but rather about understanding that ‘others’ are exactly that– other than who you are. It’s also an understanding that life continues with or without consent. So, as long as you’re alive, there is infinity to the ability to improve yourself and do better than you did yesterday. It grounds your attention to only outdo you because this mindset recognises that you are your only true competition.

The ‘finite’ mindset, on the other hand, stokes competition, but the race is a mirage, drawn on arbitrary metrics. It’s a game where winners and losers are defined by rules that exist within the confines of your mind.

Here, the potential is often discredited by self-imposed limiting beliefs because instead of growing to become your best, you’re only doing things and taking action to ‘win,’ which might not necessarily align with what your best is.

What are examples of this?
