Meet the Bangkok-based eyewear maker. Handmade, heartfelt, with serious style: Get to know the Bangkok artist, maker, and designer redefining bespoke eyewear in Thong Lo.
I've spent a lifetime adjusting my sunglasses—probably with more time spent trying to sit them on my nose than actually looking through them—until I was gifted a custom GIMM piece.
At an unassuming shop in a bustling neighborhood in central Bangkok, through one of the many Thong Lo alleys, I finally own frames that sit without slippage or gaping holes.
From selecting materials, to choosing the colours, frame and shade—part of the fun was also my part in steering the design.
Eyewear is an understated accessory, but the right pair will transform how you see the world—and how the world sees you.
Like swapping a stick figure drawing for a Renaissance masterpiece, handcrafted with care, the fit and details, executed with exquisite precision—I am elated.

I’m a designer and a maker of handmade eyewear.
I see myself as a designer who can craft an entire pair of glasses by hand—from start to finish—on my own. What matters most to me is creating something that brings joy and satisfaction to the person wearing it, while also bringing me happiness in the making. When a pair of glasses combines both beauty and function, that’s when I know it’s truly complete.
I hope people see me as an artist—someone who creates with care, skill, and heart.

จากที่ตัวเองเป็นคนชอบแว่นตา แต่หาแว่นที่ขนาดและดีไซน์ที่ถูกใจไม่ค่อยได้ คนส่วนใหญ่ 90% ใส่แว่น แว่นตาเหมือนจป็นอวัยวะของร่างกายอีกอันนึง และมีลูกค้าที่อยากได้อะไรที่พิเศษ ไม่เหมือนใคร แสดงความเป็นตัวเอง
คุณยังจำได้ไหมว่าครั้งแรกที่ทำแว่นตาของตัวเองเป็นอย่างไร? ตอนนั้นรู้สึกยังไง?
รู้สึกยากแต่สนุกและเต็มไปด้วยคำถาม และรู้สึกท้าทาย ที่จะต้องทำให้มันดีขึ่นๆไปอีก

How did you learn to make glasses—and when did it start?
I began experimenting with making eyewear around ten years ago, starting with silver metal frames. At the time, I was already practicing jewelry-making, which I’d been doing since 2000. Later on, I also took a short workshop in South Korea to further explore the craft.
What inspired you to open your own custom eyewear studio?
I’ve always loved glasses, but I could rarely find ones that truly fit—both in terms of size and design. And I noticed that I wasn’t alone. Most people—around 90%—wear glasses, and they become almost like an extension of your body.
Over time, I also began meeting customers who wanted something special—something that felt like them. That sense of individuality became the heart of what I do.
Do you remember what it was like making your very first pair of glasses?
It felt difficult, but also incredibly fun and full of questions. It was a challenge that made me want to keep getting better.
What did that first one look like? Do you still have it?
It was a round sunglasses made from silver. The lenses were set using a technique inspired by prong settings in jewelry-making—like how gemstones are set. Yes, I still keep them.
What kinds of shapes or designs excite you the most? And which ones feel timeless to you?
I love designs that bring together contrasting elements—like mixing two different colors or materials in one frame, or combining unexpected shapes in a way that works. It’s a kind of design you don’t really find in the mainstream market.
As for timeless styles, I’d say the Panto shape, and classic tortoiseshell patterns. They never go out of style.
What’s the most recent piece you've made that you’re proud of?
A pair of glasses I designed and made for an international eyewear competition at SILMO Paris—it made it to the top five finalists.
Who are your top three style icons of all time?
**A pioneering German architect and founder of the Bauhaus, whose vision of uniting art, craft, and technology revolutionised modern design.**

If you could design the perfect pair of glasses for yourself, what would they look like?
They’d be simple in form, but with hidden details and playful touches. The size would fit me just right—something I could wear every day. They’d also be functional—offering sun and wind protection, perfect for riding my motorbike to work.
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about your glasses, your brand, or the artistry behind handmade eyewear?
I want people to understand that handmade eyewear is completely different from mass-produced glasses. It takes time, skill, and soul.
There’s something almost like live music in the process—it carries the spirit of craftsmanship. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, and made with intention. I also love that the customers get to be part of the design process. It becomes something made just for them—something they can feel proud of.
