Capital 'T' Truth | #THINKINGHUES
A poem to claim "we are all, at the core, all one and the same."

As another significant war breaks out,
humanity seems to be in a rut,
it’s time to confront what’s in my gut,
as we seem to have forgotten a truth,
a capital ‘T’ truth,
despite the differences and the divergences,
we are all, at the core, all one and the same.
It is the manmade definitions that pull us apart,
the painful histories, that leaves scars,
deep in the past are the stories,
our stories and theirs,
those which take claim,
the territories,
from Queens to thieves,
to freaks and fleas,
there are still many stories yet to be told,
held in ransom, as if in tandem.
The unhealed wounds, the resounding dooms,
starting from the womb or even while in bloom,
a room held through war is a tomb.
I know, it’s hard to make way,
when history is at bay,
but, please have mercy,
I agree, it’s all very blurry.
Yet, no matter how hard we try,
to deny or destroy,
to pull, to shove, or to tug, all the more,
we are all, at the core, all one and the same.
When violence, brutality, and war is the path,
bloodbaths bash the hope of the good,
hanging like an insult,
is this what we really want to result?
ripples of trauma,
unnecessary drama,
frozen in time,
by the hurts of crime.
What results,
not only for the victims,
but also for the souls of the culprits,
a felt contribution to generational traumas,
of reverberated traumas.
Pain and disdain,
becomes our bane,
of humanity’s claim,
why can’t everyone see?
This is a plea, to flee,
to find a way to run free,
from the chains of slain,
as hate berates,
the fates, that lay await;
and those in this very states,
conditioned, primed,
chimed, and ill-timed,
to add years of weight,
layers of restraint,
that’ll create and reinstate,
traits of fright, blight, and fight,
that perpetuate.
Why is there so much hate,
why does this have to be our fate:
resentment, racism, suppression,
why not camaraderie, contentment, and integration,
from years of aggression, our fates are in question,
why oppression is the obsession,
this is a recession,
a regression and compression,
a disgrace, on why we can’t seem to find peace,
and space to live in our truth,
to stay in the capital ‘T’ truth?
Manmade contradictions,
that limits our visions,
troubles our reasons,
creates divisions,
none are instinctual,
nor integral or innate,
because here’s the capital ‘T’ truth:
perhaps the one that’s not yet clear,
but necessary to hear,
we are all, at the core, all one and the same.
I felt compelled to write this today, so this is all I have to share with you today.
