A Poem: To be free...to be me.
What does it mean to free me to be free to be me?
To be free to be me,
to set my soul free,
with glee,
I set my spirits free,
free of guilt,
free of shame,
free of a decree;
unrestricted, unmuted,
unconfined by the shackles of society.
To slay, to stray, to pave a new way,
to flirt with the limitless,
to arise with the infinite;
of the self, unleashed,
soaring wild,
exploring the child,
return me to that purity.
Untouched,
unmodified,
fortified to an original state,
uninfluenced—un-compromised,
without expectations,
nor corrections;
just connections,
with that spirit,
within,
that already knows,
it’s always known—
how to be free.
To spread my wings,
to fly across the boundless skies,
unshackled,
empowered,
with rise,
self-determined,
no lies nor disguise.
To be allowed to be free,
to allow myself to set myself free,
to be free,
to free me,
to just be.
Redefine my independence,
this isn’t a repentance;
to be free,
to be me,
to break the chains,
and pains,
of yesteryear,
reject the conditioned,
tamed,
suppressed to please,
for ease; oh, please!
I plea,
Let my spirits free,
let me free me,
to just be me,
free, to be,
to just be me.
Thank you!
