The Narratives of You | #THINKINGHUES
Thoughts laid out in poetry, an experimental form of free form writing.
Today, I decided to play with another experimental format this week. I felt compelled to write the following words, you’ll soon read, as one of the major lessons that stuck out for me this week is to realise how much control we all have over the narratives we tell ourselves and how those stories shapes our life.

From when you came into this world,
You were always told a story,
By your surroundings,
By your environment,
By your culture,
By society,
By your caregivers,
Other loved ones,
Either those around you,
Or those within reach,
You were told a story,
You believed it,
You bathed in it,
You continued with it,
But does your soul say something different?
The story of you,
Shaped, formed,
Hammered,
Rolled,
Stamped,
Pounded,
in you,
Through many opinions,
many lenses,
many perspectives,
expectations,
intentions,
With insights,
tribulations,
Some comforting,
Others uncomfortable;
epiphanies,
realisations,
contemplations,
introspections,
and learnings,
misgivings;
all weaved into the narratives of you.
As a result, there’s always a story that’s prevalent,
a theme that plays,
benevolent,
or malevolent,
a question,
or questions that replay,
again, and over again;
Suppositions,
apprehensions,
surmised,
into fact or fiction,
truth or belief,
the narratives you’ve been told,
ingrained,
intertwined,
(imagined?)
into your neural pathways,
showing up as patterns,
that often stays, and sways;
the narratives of you.
Do you feel content with the narratives you’ve been told?
Do you feel satisfied with the stories you were told?
Does your soul seek something different?
Do you feel happy with the stories you tell yourself?
Do you feel fulfilled with the narratives in your head?
Does your soul seek something different?
Do you feel pleased with the narratives you’ve been told?
Do you feel convinced by the stories you’ve been told?
Does your soul seek something different?
What do you think?
Did you like today’s format? Do you have any suggestions or questions? Please feel free to share your honest thoughts or constructive criticism in the comments or say hello@thehappyhue.com.
