Podcasts are my favourite medium.
I love to listen to people’s stories and interviews. I am also having a real moment with Steven Bartlett’s The Diary of CEO podcast. His guests and interviews are just too damn good— so, here’s a roster of some of my recent favourites:
Podcast. “Wim Hof: They’re Lying to You About Disease & Inflammation.” I am familiar with his breathing technique, but his life story completely surprised me.
Podcast. “The Fasting Expert: “The Truth About Ozempic", These 3 Foods Are Leading To Cancer! Our Supermarket Food Isn’t Safe! - Dr Mindy Pelz.” An eye-opener! Who knew reseting your health can be as simple as fasting? Remarkable research!
Podcast. “Simon Cowell Opens Up About His Heartbreaking Loss, “losing them was the hardest thing that happened to me.’” This is the version of Simon Cowell that you would’ve never guessed; his stoic and harsh demeanour on TV melts away.
Podcast. “The Exercise Neuroscientist: The Shocking Link Between Exercise And Dementia! Coffee Is Destroying Your Brain! Our Brains Have Been Hacked! - Dr Wendy Suzuki.” The things you really need to hear about exercise and your brain— plus a few more goodies, neatly delivered in one information packed episode.
More valuable podcasts this month:
Podcast. Feel Better, Live More with Dr. Rangan Chatterjee. “How To Use Food to Improve Your Mood, Overcome Anxiety and Protect Your Memory with Dr Georgie Ede.” A little controversial, but it’s good to exercise my critical thinking, but I’ll let you decide for yourself.
Podcast. Wisdom From the Top with Guy Raz. “The Importance of a Near Miss: Sarah Lewis (Harvard).” Reframe failing and why grit is essential.
Podcast. Naval. “Conquering the mind.” Honestly, I listened to this multiple times. Exposure to novel perspectives is what you can expect, but while some were controversial, it challenged me to think for myself.
Podcast. Naval. “Happiness.” Refreshingly honest and helpful.
9. Music. Three tracks I liked.
On Substack:
Poetic Outlaws. “To Make Living Itself the Highest Art.” Beautiful prose on what the world needs.
Kirsten Powers. “How I Tamed My Envy of Almost Everyone But Especially Elizabeth Gilbert.” Is as raw and honest as you can get. Envy is very human, but this perspective reminds us why it can also be a useful guide.
Rethink with Rachel. “Why ‘collective effervesence’ is essential to our wellbeing.” Why old school in person social interactions will never go out of fashion.
Rosie Spinks. “Tiny Stupid Habits.” - An honest take on the journey of healing and wellness, that’s more about upkeep and facing our mortality.
Article. Financial Times. “MSCHF made millions selling viral art projects. Is fashion next?” MSCHF's is an innovative disruptor, with unexpected vision and absolute masters of mystery, who managed to woo streetwear and fashion aficionados everywhere.
Article. Sabukaru. “Creation Printing Service - The Tokyo Silk-Screen Printing Brand You Need to Know.” Raku Endo shares candidly of his atypical lens on his industry and his role. I enjoyed his aloofness about both his success and his approach; that’s refreshingly non-commercial.
Article. ZME Science. “Carrots were originally purple, not orange. Here’s what happened.” I love carrots! To my surprise, I had no idea of it’s history. Fascinating!
Excitement. Variety. Blackpink’s Lisa Joins ‘White Lotus’ Season 3. One of my favourite shows and a bada$$ Southeast Asian talent I admire!
Instagram. @seaasia.food. I saw this and thought it was cool that Indonesia has had plastic free, natural wrapping for generations. But, I guess industrialisation is what made them switch to plastic instead.
Artist. Basian Allfrey. Absolutely vibrant breathtaking expressionist flowers.
Restaurant. Athens, Greece. Isandsia. The dishes was so visually alluring and aromas captivating, I completely forgot to take pictures of the actual meal. But, WOW, the sourdough pita along with all the other plates was simply perfect.
Quote. Philosophors.
Thank you for reading!
