On People I (Mostly) Admire: Is Perfectionism Ruining Your Life? asks a very sobering question. I admittedly did not realise how much of a perfectionist I am and how it has controlled my life in so many more ways than I realised. This episode was a personal revelation. Even if the idea of perfectionism is so foreign to you, this episode is helpful for any human to also understand how the dynamics of our current contexts can impact your psychology of wanting more.
More than just an epiphany though, the candid conversation between Psychologist Thomas Curran and Freakonomics co-author Steve Levitt was a fascinating insight into debunking some of the myths and misconceptions around perfectionism. The wisdom is in the thoughtful discussions. Curran’s research is invaluable, to say the least. As we continue to endure this ever changing world of wanting more and constant comparison, this conversation brings valuable perspectives to light. It also touches on the role parents play in creating unforgiving standards. If you’re a parent or have had demanding parents in your life, I highly recommend a listen.
Curran is the author of a recent release titled, The Perfection Trap: The Power of Good Enough In a World That Always Wants More– and yet again another book added to my ever-blossoming reading list.
Running Is the Worst Way to Get Fit the title says it all. I need everyone to read this, especially if you are someone who thinks that running is the holy grail of exercise. Because here’s the truth, it’s not. In fact, an expert like Peter Attia has been on record saying that in fact, long-distance running is bad for joint health.
I share the same views as this article, especially when it comes to those of you who love to run. Please keep running if you love it, but know that it’s not the most optimal way to health or weight loss. While it can have some health benefits, the ROI on running is really not that compelling, if you’re doing it for the health benefits alone– this article perfectly sums up my thoughts on the topic too, and it’s a fun read too.
If you’re not an Audible member, you’re missing out on one of the greatest joys in life because listening to the authors read their own books, in their own voices– as they had intended the words to be heard– is one of the best experiences modern technology has to offer. ;) As a self-proclaimed nerd, I truly mean it.
While it’s unfortunate that not all authors read their own books, the ones I’ve come across lately bring so much delight. From Matthew McConaughey’s Greenlights to Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act: A Way of Being, it’s a real treat to listen to the words they’ve written in their own voices. Especially in Mccanaughey’s case, it really animates the stories and brings each moment to life.
Whether you’re listening on your commute or listening before bed, it’s time to reminisce the glory days of your childhood bedtime stories through Audible. I promise you I am not being paid for this. But, finding the right books to listen to will fill that little hole you didn’t know needed filling.

Graffiti artists used to have a bad rep for violating public spaces. While some graffiti can be obscene and unnecessarily volatile, most who appreciate their own craft are true masters who deserve real praise. Behind the spray cans and strokes of every masterful graffiti piece is an artist whose skill and spontaneity are worth celebrating.
Tuyuloveme’s art was born out of the streets of Jogjakarta. He has an abstract expressionist style, is unique and translates his masterful imagination on canvas well. The unexpected shapes and puzzles of imagery are what add to his unique flare. Collaborating with brands to add life to a wall or creating fun art on canvas, his art embodies the spirit of spontaneity that’s grounded in graffiti. There’s always an element of freestyling flow to every piece. Without too much planning or restrictive ideas on how the art will turn out, his pieces are reflections of continuity in self-expression.
First, let's appreciate the artistry and skill that is inherent in creating works of art on the fly, under pressure, and in many cases against the law. While through one perspective, it’s an enrichment of public spaces, the high stakes of repercussion and the heightened circumstance, add to the mastery of skill. So, when you see beautiful uncommissioned graffiti, you know, there’s real talent behind it– and delight in walking through streets lined with surprising works of art.
It’s rare to get through most days drinking enough water. Even if you think you’re drinking enough, it’s likely not, as the recommended daily amount is about 3-4L daily. Yes, you read that right. Unless you’re putting in a deliberate effort to drink that much water, it’s likely you’re not hydrating yourself enough, so what’s the solution? Buy a big bottle, that’s at least a litre or more in size in order to make your calculations easier. The lower the barrier to building this habit, the higher the chances you’ll create of adopting this habit. But, it’s not an easy one to adopt, unless you’re intensional– and cups of coffee or soda don’t count.

Fortifying healthy boundaries and how you expend your attention is a choice. Remember, where attention goes, energy flows— and there’s a spectrum on the value of information, so choose wisely. Don’t succumb to the trends or algorithms. Stay vigilant in critically thinking about what’s best for your well-being.
A friend curated this playlist for The Find Bali and it’s everything I want to listen to right now. It’s soothing, it’s relaxing, and honestly, inspiring tracks to take you into the weekend or through the weekend, so sit back, relax, and listen to Seaside with The Find by Nindy Noto.
