Best of Axious Achiever: Pressure, Achievement, and Self-Compassion dives into an enlightening discussion on the dangers of work-life pressures. If you’ve ever felt isolated in your struggle with the weight of life’s responsibilities, especially at work, this one is a worthwhile listen for you.
Mark Goldstein candidly shares his harrowing experience of feeling like the underdog at his prestigious law firm, Reed Smith. The overwhelm and sense of inadequacy he felt led him to a breaking point of severe mental decline, which was intensified by his battles with OCD and depression. Yet, in his vulnerability, Mark discovered a resonating truth: he was not alone. The pressures synonymous with demanding roles in places like his law firm were not unique to him.
This revelation transformed Mark’s perspective, giving him the courage to share his story. He emphasizes the importance of acknowledging when you’re not okay and the important step of asking for help. Mark challenges the stigma surrounding mental health, especially when the stakes involve risking losing those that matter most in life.
Concluding the conversation, Dr Kirstin Neff provides invaluable insights on self-compassion. One particularly impactful advice she offers is to embrace, and even appreciate, emotions like anger and frustration. She points out the protective nature of these emotions, highlighting their role in safeguarding well-being. Dr. Neff’s wisdom touches on the realities and practicalities to accept emotions as they are. Like how anger can embolden bravery or how frustration can empower actions. She talks more about how you can acknowledge such emotions to work for you and how you can best move forward with grace and compassion.
The Hyphen by Emma Gannon is a refreshing read that captures the aspirations of many modern writers. As a seasoned editorial writer, Gannon isn’t just living the writer’s dream; she embodies the modern millennial’s entrepreneurial vision. As a writer and thought leader, she runs her own business, sells her own books, gets paid to do what she loves, and has a thriving community online and offline. What more could a person ask for?
Ganon pens a Substack with candid narratives of her journey as a writer, along with her ideas and thoughts as a 30-something living in today’s world. As an empowered and emboldened independent woman, she’s a force to align with and her Substack is one I recommend. She dives into both the joys and the challenges of getting paid doing what she loves, not just as a writer, but as an individual in today’s economy yearning for more autonomy, freedom, and authenticity, but loving life while she’s at it.
Moom Health continues to win my heart again and again. Not only for the convenience of their biodegradable, customised supplement sachets but also for their unwavering dedication to the community and vibrant empowering messages for women all around– literally and figuratively.
Championing women’s health is always a commendable mission, so today I am celebrating the dynamic sister duo behind Moom Health for nurturing the inner glow of so many women, while also helping to harmonise my hormones too.
Hsieh Chen Lin, also known as @damonxart on Instagram, crafts art that effortlessly captures attention and sparks the imagination. His signature gradient chromatic graphics are a play on perspective. Appearing like 3D structures caught behind glass, one can’t help but feel inspired when appreciating his masterpieces. They evoke deep emotions through the simultaneous use of hues and structural components that offer a serene sense of structural symmetry and a playful splash of chromatic gradients.
In the affluence of modern life, with the abundance of food access everywhere we got, the irony is that eating less can in fact help you to live longer. Many leading experts in longevity studies endorse practices like intermittent fasting, which not only aid in weight management, but also promotes a longer, and healthier life.

These words reflect the thoughts I have this week.
you never know
how far you can go
until you give it a go
people are not going to
have the answers for you
no one knows yourself
better than you do
you won’t get it right
on your first try
but it will get you there
this is your shot in life
you either try for what you want
or you spend it
wishing for something else.
Good Vibes Head Bop is this week’s go-to playlist, filled with dance grooves that promise to keep you bopping all night long– or until the thirteen songs run out. Whether you’re sipping cocktails or just letting loose, these tunes are your one-way ticket to a summer night brimming with fun and lots of energy.
