Dive into the wisdom of leadership for the long term on Brené Brown with Simon Sinek on Developing an Infinite Mindset. This timeless conversation shares lessons on embracing an infinite perspective that makes it a worthwhile listen and something to bookmark for future reference.
Sinek’s philosophy pivots around two key aspects: prioritising service over ego-driven leadership and having a clear articulation of your ‘why,’ in order to always have a compass to refer back to, that’ll help you to navigate your actions in life and career. Incorporating these values, alongside the power of teamwork, form the foundation of an infinite mindset.
Brown and Sinek deconstruct conventional thinking, guiding you towards mission-driven thinking, that’ll help you frame your ambitions and make life more meaningful. They’ll share practical real-world examples from an array of anecdotal experiences they’ve shared over their careers working with highly respected clients in diverse fields. The best part is how they’ve broken it down through robust discussions on the practical applications and strategies that’ll help you implement an infinite mindset.
Whether you’re familiar with the concept of an infinite mindset or not, this episode is a helpful guide and a sure way to ignite passion toward realigning yourself with your ‘why.’ Gain fresh insights into the dangers of a fixed mindset and why shifting toward the concept of an infinite game is critical to the longevity of your career or business. But more importantly, a mantra to adopt, if you’re interested in pursuing your best you!
Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers delivers an engaging analysis of the factor driving human success. Telling tales of tenacity, perseverance, and opportunity, Gladwell outlines his compelling ‘10,000-hour rule’ for mastery.
Featuring a diverse cast of examples, including legendary music icons The Beatles to one of the world’s most successful tech entrepreneurs, Bill Gates, Gladwell dives into the idea that it is not only talent or luck but a dedicated practice that propels individuals to exceptional heights. He suggests that a person’s dedication to their craft, whatever that might be, coupled with drive, is the ultimate catalyst for success.
What goes unnoticed behind the headlines is how these extraordinary individuals often have a story of sheer determination and dedication behind the scene. What often doesn’t get reported are the years of sacrifice and the hours of obsession that happens before the recognition. More than just an inspirational read though, Outliers provides almost a practical blueprint into what it truly takes to excel and become exceptional in your field.
As K-Pop takes over the word, another South Korean phenomenon worth embracing is the beauty industry. Dr Jart+ face masks, a favourite of mine, are an excellent place to start. They offer noticeable fast results, coupled with convenient application compared to the traditional liquid or paste masks.
For the men reading this, if you think this product is only made for women, think again. Don’t be embarrassed to want to care for your skin. This is your no-fuss opportunity to give your face the rejuvenation and hydration it’s likely been craving.
Among the selections offered by Dr Jart+, the Vital Hydra pack stands out due to the intense hydration it provides in just minutes. For maximum impact, apply it before bed, to give the product’s moisture time to absorb overnight rather than rinsing it off right away. Also, don’t forget to apply any leftover product to your neckline as well! Korean beauty, with its focus on revitalising skincare, are truly emerging as the experts worth exploring.
Space Objekt, a creative design studio based in Singapore, is the brainchild of innovative creatives Tina Fung and Ash Razaque. Known for their ethereal and vibrant sculptures, this dynamic duo is creating ripples beyond the little red dot, illuminating the global art scene with their unique creations.
Their art blends practicality, and accessibility, with profound inspiration. Their technical know-how is also worth noting– manifesting lit fixtures and shapes that extend beyond conventional displays. Their artistry makes art more accessible, sparking spaces with their imagination and flair.
Every piece, characterised by its signature neon and colourful lights, with beautiful three-dimensional imaginations, is a testament to their prowess as visual artists. Their radiant renditions, combine with their ingenuity, form their impressive portfolio of home ground and international projects that is hard not to notice.
Often crafting large-scale monuments to occupy diverse spaces is where their fun is, each piece transcends the definitions of what art can be, beyond museum or gallery walls. From Singapore to the wider world, Space Objekt is an artistic force that evokes a sense of awe and intrigue wherever they build.
“Structure is the enemy of originality” – Sascha Kuntze
These words deeply resonate as I seek more originality in my work. Despite the abundance of theories promising ultimate productivity, I believe that no single method will work for all, across all industries or fields. You must individually adapt, learn, and carve your unique work strategies in order to become effective in originality. That’s what I think at least.
Originality often strikes at unexpected moments, free from constraints and liberated from expectations is where it spawns easily. Though, perhaps the rampant existence of distractions and ‘shoulds’ in societies and cultures today tends to dampen this innate ability for creativity.
If you aim to nurture originality, be open to moments of spontaneity, and free yourself from rigid structures and absolutes. In the absence of a one-size-fits-all approach, the path toward original ideas and solutions is more easily embraced and is best found through subjective experience in solitude. There are no absolutes in originality.
I’ve been thriving on Andrew Huberman’s suggestion to switch to a midday caffeine dose instead of reaching for that caffeine fix first thing in the morning. But, ensuring an 8-hour window before bedtime has been critical to avoid too much disruption to my sleep, as it’s a fine line between having caffeine too late in the day.
So far, this simple adjustment has effectively combated the post-lunch slump, providing me with a boost of energy and focus that sustains me throughout the afternoon. But again, it’s a fine line because just being an hour late and reducing that window for the caffeine to leave my system risks my ability for quality sleep– and we all know how detrimental that is to our overall health. So, as always, do what works for you, but most importantly have a play and see for yourself. Enjoy!
