THIS WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS:
The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, The Miracle Doctor: EVERYONE should start fasting right now! (New Science) Dr. Mindy Pelz is clearly my current favourite podcast overall, so excuse the repetition of the recommendation, but this episode is one every person needs to hear to understand the self-healing powers in all of us.
Rick Rubin’s, The Creative Act: A Way of Being, is a trove that’s part wisdom, part reflection, tailored for the creative in all of us– a quality that Rubin says is not unique to the gifted or talented, rather, creativity is what humans do.
The Oura ring is a sleep-tracking maestro that doubles as a sleek accessory that you’ll never look back on once you’ve gained valuable data on REMs, sleep hours, and readiness scores.
Yulvia Puradiredja’s art is an electric storm of raw talent– a cascade of emotions is what you’ll see and narratives of trivial strokes are what’ll draw you in.
It’s.A.VIBE, is the playlist, that’s perfect as your morning shower companion this weekend.
Much like the body’s natural ability to mend wounds, this episode on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, The Miracle Doctor: EVERYONE should start fasting right now! (New Science) Dr. Mindy Pelz is what every person needs to listen to. Side note, I know over the last few weeks, there’s been a clear favourite podcast in my recommendation, but his insightful episodes are hard to ignore, Steven Bartlett and his team deserve a stand-ovation.
Revealing the keys to unlocking your body’s self-healing powers, Dr. Mindy Pelz navigates the various types of fasting and clearly lays out the different benefits. Unearthing the almost seemingly miraculous results and opening your mind to the magical possibilities of anecdotes and scientific evidence, this conversation will strike hope in you– at your body’s intelligence.
What if the key to robust health lies not in prescriptions or procedures, but in prevention that’s innate and held within us? What if your body’s capacity can be activated through fasting? From thinking about how our ancestors flourished and ate, to adapting to the reality of today’s world, this episode will unpack the surprising new science and practical wisdom surrounding fasting and why you should try it today. This conversation is guaranteed to shift your perspective on your body’s true potential, as it has with me.
Rick Rubin’s, The Creative Act: A Way of Being, is a treasure trove that’s part wisdom, part reflection, tailored for the thinker in all of us. With graciousness unique to Rubin, a titan who’s mingled with the greatest minds in music, and a meditator since his teenage years– his book unwinds the mystical process of the creative act; a quality Rubin believes is not unique to a special class of individuals, rather creativity is a human act; a right essential to our species.
The book opens with a candid caveat, “nothing in this book is known to be true. It’s a reflection on what I’ve noticed– not facts so much as thoughts.” Such modest introductions reveal his intention for the book; far from a traditional biography that one would expect from such an icon in pop culture, this book sits more like a spiritual collection of writings.
Insightful in delivery, thoughtful in themes, and inspiring in content, Rubin stays true to his teachings, of embracing your truest self by letting yourself create the creations you’re called to do versus expressing what’s expected. Embrace your path, stay true to who you are, and let your point of view shine is the foundational message throughout. Rubin unveils a world where self-awareness and instincts are in harmony with creation. This book is your modern guide on the philosophy of life and creativity– an inside look into a renowned creative mind.
Getting those golden 7 - 8 hours of sleep is no longer just sage advice– it's a pivotal habit for our vitality. Cue in the Oura ring, a sleep-tracking maestro that doubles as a sleek accessory. Forget about wrestling with cumbersome wearables; Oura nestles nicely on your finger, silently harvesting sleep data with clear finesse. Unparalleled comfort, fashionable precision, with sophisticated data is what you’ll get.
But it doesn’t stop at REM tracking or sleep hours, it’ll reveal a readiness score that’ll tell you how well you’ve rested and so much more! Also, specifically for the ladies, Oura is also integrated with Natural Cycles, a revolutionary modern guardian of women’s health. An automated menstrual cycle monitor and a savvy sidekick for an alternative contraceptive. The combined power of Oura and Natural Cycles is the magic combination all females should consider and appreciate– for style, ultimate convenience, and of course, a “trusted by experts” seal of approval!
Yulvia Puradiredja’s art is an electric storm of raw talent– a cascade of emotions is what you’ll see in her works. A symphony of frenetic lines and kaleidoscopic hues, where each woman featured breathes a saga and a story to contemplate.
Stumbling on her gems through Meratupa, an Indonesian NFT community supporting emerging digital artists entertaining the digital realms. I was caught by the unapologetic, vivacious vigour of her work. Behind every expression there’s a narrative that’s visible– both a tempest and an embrace of female energy, and a bewitching merge of fervour and fun spontaneity. Immerse yourself in her inspirational gallery of scrumptious feasts for the soul.
THOUGHT I AM CONTEMPLATING:
Create without expectation.
Experience without attachment.
Live without condition.
See without preference.
Love without limits.

To proactively live in the present is what I leave with from reading the words above. There’s always pressure to live by certain standards and to posture our efforts toward accumulating more wealth, status, and achievements; but upon closer look, it seems the tides are shifting.
To live more aligned with our values, to choose careers and activities that spark joy, and to live a life that’s more in touch with our souls is what is quickly becoming the modern-day mantra.
It’s not about those accolades of status and power as much as it is the question of whether you are living your best life possible right now. Not tomorrow, not yesterday, but right now, at every second and every moment. Are what I spend most of my life doing true to my values and true to who I am?
The irony is, as I observe in others and as I entertain conversations of this topic, I see a pattern emerge– it seems the more we invest in this shift in perspective, to do the things that ignite our passions, spark joy and align with our souls– abundance, and success will follow as the energy we emanate from such activities creates a magnetism that’s hard to ignore.
A bustling schedule might render exercise a distant dream, but what about a walk through the nearby park? Going back to the basics and using your legs as your main mode of transport is an accessible adjustment. So, if the gym feels like an impossible reach, such simple switches for the staircase or walking meetings through the park may be your next best thing to help you inject a moment of sanctuary and incorporate some movement into your day.
Another summer-ready curation for your listening ears to enjoy: It’s.A.VIBE, is the perfect morning shower accompaniment. But, if this playlist is not what you’re feeling this week, do yourself a favour and check out all the other playlists I’ve got going for you on my Spotify page.
