Pain is a universal experience. While resorting to pain medication may seem like the quick fix, The Model Health Show: How to Heal Faster from Injuries, Eliminate Pain, & Master Rehab Science– with Dr. Tom Walters, sheds light on the true complexities of pain, including its psychological aspects. The episode emphasises the need for greater awareness of pain management and its sources, considering that millions of individuals worldwide suffer from acute and chronic pain.
In a world where chronic pain is increasingly prevalent, the growth of pain management services and the pharmaceutical industry raises genuine concerns. By debunking myths and presenting the latest scientific insights, this episode reveals that pain is a highly individualised experience with unique neural patterns, akin to fingerprints. It delves into the psychological dimension of pain, acknowledging the significant role our brains play in its perception. While pain is physiologically felt in the body, understanding the complexities of the brain and the mind-body connection is paramount. If you seek a deeper understanding of how pain is related to the intricate workings of how neural networks function, then this episode is one not to miss.
The Elysian by Elle Griffin is a new favourite on Substack. Elle’s exceptional writing skills are magnetic that’ll and leave you paragraphs deep and still wanting more. I find myself in awe of the remarkable body of work she has produced. What also sets her apart are not only her insightful articles but also the imaginative AI imagery she’s seamlessly paired with each post. Beyond the aesthetic though, while some of Elle’s topics are serious in nature, her writing exudes inspiration on topics that are sometimes esoteric, yet her articulations resonates deep– like her articles on What Is The Point of Profit? and Is Your Company Wasting Your Time, are perspective drivers; presenting a view that’s well researched, supported with great evidence, and cohesively expressed. These three characteristics is how I’d classify the bulk of Elle’s non-fiction article. I haven’t even gotten to her fiction segment, which I am excited to do!
While washing dishes falls under the category of mundane life chores, the delightful smiley face on Scrub Daddy’s fabulous sponges will add a touch of unexpected glee to an otherwise mediocre task. Beyond the playful design, these sponges are truly the best you’ll ever us on your dishes. Once you’ve experience the quality of Sponge Daddy, it’s difficult to go back. Say goodbye to those cheap sponges we’ve grown accustomed to use. What’s admirable is for something so simple, the people behind this product knows the importance of great design, and how simple rethinking can touch millions of lives. I know it seems blown out of proportion to have such enthusiasm for such a product, but the beauty of the Scrub Daddy range is most people have discovered it through word of mouth or trying the product at a friends, which inspires cult-like evangelism, that requires no further convincing.
Deila Maharanie’s art preserves a profound essence in her work, whether it’s ethereal nature or captivating blend of textures and colours. Her work emanates the energy of feminine strength and female empowerment. The theme of identity takes center stage in her illustrations, showcasing a diverse characters of female figures. These whimsical portrayals are coupled with authoritative yet dynamic charm, that make her art irresistible. Capturing the essence of her unique perspective on the world, each drawing resonate with expressive gestures and emotions that define her distinctive artistic style.
“Don’t change everything at one time, but change something.”
It’s common to be influenced by a black-and-white, all-or-nothing mindset, that’s prevalent through dramatic narratives in sensational click-bait media stories or in Hollywood or K-Drama, which often depict a sweep of life-changing decisions happening all at once.
These instantaneous shifts and grand gestures are the lifeline to great entertainment but is it something you need to apply into your personal lives? I often have to grapple with this mindset in my own life, especially in times of transition.
However, I realise that change doesn’t have to encompass everything all at once. Instead of feeling compelled to overhaul everything in one fell swoop, perhaps it’s more beneficial to focus on changing one thing at a time, as progress is about taking small steps, as meaningful transformation happens gradually not instantly.

Amidst the discussions around the drawbacks of an insulin spike, the conventional preference for sugary breakfast options is something to reconsider and scrutinise— one that has likely been leading you through mood swings, midday crashes, and unpredictable energy spikes.
A quick search will tell you that effective insulin regulation throughout the day is a simple yet effective way to manage your mood and energy levels. One simple step to help you do this is to opt for a savoury breakfast instead of a sweet one.
The next time you find yourself tempted by a refreshing glass of orange juice (which typically is made of three oranges worth of sugar), or a delectable chocolate croissant, consider choosing a nutritious chickpea scramble or a plate of lox as a healthier alternative to manage those insulin spikes, and, in general, a better way to go through your day.
